Environmental
General environmental statement
The climate crisis affects every industry, including fashion. Research estimates the global fashion industry produced around 2.1 billion tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions in 2018, roughly 4 percent of the global total. Textile waste is also a major environmental challenge. Around 92 million tonnes of textile waste are generated worldwide each year, and in the EU an estimated 6.95 million tonnes were generated in 2020, about 16 kilograms per person, with most disposed of through mixed household waste.
Our environmental commitment is reflected in how we operate and improve over time. We prioritise on demand production, responsible supply chains, lower impact materials, conscious packaging, and circularity, while working toward carbon neutrality across the company.
To reduce the impact of transportation, we primarily use standard shipping and apply carbon offsetting where available. These offsets support verified projects designed to reduce or remove emissions, including reforestation, renewable energy, and local sustainability initiatives, helping balance part of the footprint associated with delivery.
By producing on demand and partnering with fulfilment services closer to our customers, we aim to minimise overproduction, excess inventory, and unnecessary emissions, ensuring each delivery is as considered as the product itself.
To further this work, we encourage customers to extend the life of their Ahlife® pieces through responsible second hand gifting, swapping, or resale where it is permitted and appropriate. This supports a circular economy, extends product life cycles, and reduces waste while keeping our community connected to conscious consumption.
Note: We do not currently run an official resale platform. This is separate from purchasing new items for commercial resale or export, which is not permitted under our store terms.
